It was quite a shocker to see Kelly Clarkson leave The Voice, and if you were looking forward to her return, we’ve got some bad news for you. The American Idol winner is not planning The Voice comeback after moving to New York, and she’s putting her full focus into her talk show.

Clarkson decided to move her talk show from Los Angeles to New York City so she could be closer to her family, but she had to leave some things behind along the way. Her coaching position on The Voice was one of them, and she has no regrets about this decision.

“I’ve learned a lot about what I’m capable of handling, and also what you should not handle. That was me saying ‘bye’ to The Voice and having this big move. I love that family, but I was like, ‘I’m struggling. I can’t smile anymore. I don’t feel like smiling,’” Clarkson told USA Today.

Clarkson and The Voice go a long way, and she served as one of the show’s official coaches between Season 14 and Season 21, before taking a short break and returning for Season 23. She left the show ahead of the ongoing Season 24, with Niall Horan, Gwen Stefani, John Legend, and Reba McEntire serving as coaches.

The Voice will soon return for its 23rd season, and we’ll have a lot to look forward to once it comes back. The country superstar Reba McEntire is joining the coaches Chance the Rapper, Kelly Clarkson, Niall Horan, and Blake Shelton as the show’s new mega mentor.

McEntire is no stranger to helping The Voice contestants reach their fullest potential. She appeared as a battle advisor for Team Blake during the show’s inaugural season, so it’s only fitting for her to return for Shelton’s final season as a coach.

This time around, she’s joining the show as a mega mentor, but what does this role entail? She’ll be in charge of mentoring the remaining artists who have made it through the Battle Rounds, as each team prepares for the Knockouts taking place on April 17.

Season 23 of The Voice will premiere on NBC on March 6 and it’s bringing many format changes our way. Most notably, the show will introduce Playoff Pass during the Battle Rounds, allowing both artists in a battle to advance.

The artists in the Knockouts will be allowed to choose their own songs and perform them individually in front of the other competitors, while the Playoffs will make a comeback and feature 20 artists, allowing coaches to vote for two each to make it to the semi-finals.

Season 21 of The Voice is currently in full steam, and just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, the masterminds behind this show found a way to take things up a notch. Ed Sheeran is set to join the popular singing competition in the role of a mega mentor.

Sheeran is joining the current coaches of The Voice—Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Ariana Grande—but what makes his role on the show different than theirs? The British hitmaker will mentor artists who have already made it through “Battle Rounds” as they prepare for “Knockout Rounds”.

During the Knockouts, artists will be paired against a teammate and get to choose and perform their own song, as their opponent watches and waits. Sheeran will use his experience with songwriting, musical production, and performing to prepare them for this challenge and help them make the best possible vocal and technical choices.

“Knockout Rounds” are set to kick off on October 25th, but his mentorship role on The Voice won’t be the only thing keeping Sheeran busy. He’ll also be busy promoting his upcoming album = aka Equals, set to come out on October 29th.

The 20th season of reality singing competition The Voice wrapped up on Tuesday, with Philadelphia-native Cam Anthony being crowned as the winner.  The outcome wasn’t a surprising one as Anthony was considered the favorite for the better part of the show’s run.

Country singer Kenzie Wheeler finished in second, leaving behind Jordan Matthew Young, Victor Solomon, and Rachel Mac.

In the finale, Anthony performed Bon Jovi’s hit “Wanted Dead or Alive” and the Academy Award-nominated track “Stand Up” from the 2019 movie Harriet. The 19-year-old singer was also joined on stage by his coach Blake Shelton for a duet rendition of “She Drives Me Crazy,” a song from British rockers Fine Young Cannibals.

Anthony is the eighth winner of The Voice that was coached by Shelton. This is by far the most in the show’s history, with the next on the list being Adam Levine and Kelly Clarkson with three coaching wins each.

“You being on this show and giving us the chance to be a part of your journey has changed the show forever and we’ve been needing that,” said Shelton of Anthony after the finale.

Anthony responded by thanking Shelton for allowing him to “explore my artistry” and “have as much fun with it as possible.”

The Voice season 21 has already been announced and is expected to air at some point in the fall. Blake Shelton, John Legend, and Kelly Clarkson will all return while Nick Jonas previously announced his departure from the show after serving as a coach for three seasons. Jonas will be replaced by Ariana Grande.

If you’re hoping that Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine would return to The Voice don’t count on it.

During a Q&A session on his Instagram Stories, Levine responded to a fan’s question of if he would be coming back the popular singing competition. He responded with three words, “No thank you?”

Another user asked him if he missed working with Blake Shelton and Levine jokingly replied, “Blake who?” And when another fan asked him which of Shelton’s albums was his favorite, he said “Who is this Blake you speak of?”

Levine joined The Voice in its debut season in 2011 and after being a judge for 16 seasons, the “Sugar” singer’s departure was announced in May 2019. Following his exit, Gwen Stefani stepped in late 2019.

At the time of his departure, Levine wrote this on his Instagram, “[The Voice] went on to be a life shaping experience that will be close to my heart forever,” he wrote via Instagram at the time. “Thank you NBC for signing me up. I am truly honored to have been a part of something I’ll always cherish for the rest of my life. Thank you to every single coach I ever sat in those chairs with. That is [a] shared experience that is singularly ours. We have that for life. Thank you to everyone who supported this long strange and amazing left turn into a place I never thought I’d go.”

Months after exiting, Levine explained on The Ellen Degeneres Show that he misses the show, but that it was too much work and that he wanted to spend time with his family.

Gwen Stefani is no stranger to coaching young new talents on The Voice, and she’s ready to do it again. The singer is set to make a comeback on the 19th season of the singing competition, taking Nick Jonas’ place.

Stefani made her debut as a The Voice coach in 2014 and had always happily accepted the offer to return on this show. Back in 2019, she told E! that it’s always a shock to be asked back because they wait until the very last minute to tell her.

Stefani will be reunited with coaches Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Blake Shelton, her colleagues from season 17. She took a break from the show after that so she could commit to her Las Vegas residency.

Earlier this year, Stefani released a duet with her long-time partner Blake Shelton, titled “Nobody but You”. It went on to become her highest-charting song in over a decade and peaked at no. 18 on the Billboard Hot 100.

“I always love[d] having Gwen on the show. I mean this is the fourth season, and she literally makes my day 100% better,” Blake said.

Gwen Stefani has a new gig!

The “Love. Angel. Music. Baby.” singer is returning to The Voice for its upcoming 17th season.

However, Stefani’s re-introduction comes at the expense of Adam Levine who is leaving after 16 years on the judging panel.

The decision to depart was the Maroon 5 frontman’s own and revealed by host Carson Daly.

“He’ll always be a cherished member of The Voice family,” Daly said of Levine on Today. “Of course, we wish him nothing but the best.”

The announcement was confirmed by the NBC show which wrote on its Twitter account that it’s not goodbye, but rather “see you soon”.

Levine’s fellow coaches, Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson, also expressed sorrow at seeing the “Girls Like You” singer go.

Levine, himself, addressed his departure on Instagram, calling his time with The Voice “a life shaping experience.”

About 8 years ago, Mark Burnett convinced us to sign up for this show where you sit in a big red chair with your back turned away from the singers on the stage. First thank you must go to Mark. ❤ We had no idea what we were doing or where it was going. After the first day of shooting, I sat there, stunned. I said to myself “theres some magic here. Something is definitely happening.” It went on to be a life shaping experience that will be close to my heart forever. Thank you NBC for signing me up. I am truly honored to have been a part of something I’ll always cherish for the rest of my life. Thank you to every single coach I ever sat in those chairs with. That is shared experience that is singularly ours. We have that for life. Thank you to everyone who supported this long strange and amazing left turn into a place I never thought I’d go. Thank you Carson Daly for babysitting the musicians and making sure our shoes were tied and we had our lunch boxes. You are the backbone of this thing and we appreciate you more than you know. Audrey, thank you for being perhaps the most patient person in all the free world. 4 musicians all at once is a lot. Sainthood is imminent. Thank you to Paul Mirkovich and the band for their ridiculously hard work and learning more songs than maybe any band ever. 😂 Thank you to the people behind the scenes who do the real work and make this machine hum. To the amazingly talented vocalists who competed on the show and blew my mind on a daily basis. And, BLAKE FUCKIN’ SHELTON. I couldn’t hide my love for you if I tried. Seriously. I tried. Can’t do it. Our friendship is and always will be one for the books. Whatever this whole surreal experience was, Im just happy I got to experience it with you. You’re my brother for life. Kelly and John, take care of the cowboy and I’m sure I’ll be back to say hi very very soon. So much love to you both. And lastly, to all of the loyal voice fans, there’s literally no show without you guys. For me, it was time to move on. Your support has meant EVERYTHING. And Lastly, I’d like to thank my manager Jordan for convincing me to take that meeting. 😊 What an amazing ride. Thank you all so much. ❤ Adam

John Legend is definitely not one of the ordinary people.

The Good Night singer has joined the illustrious club of EGOT winners — those who have claimed Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Awards — and now he’s joining another cool club. The 39-year-old is set to become one of the 4 coaches on The Voice.

NBC confirmed that John will be replacing actress and singer, Jennifer Hudson, for the spring cycle of the reality competition.

“[John’s] multi-dimensional career and incredible talents provide a repertoire that will excite and inspire our artists. This coaching panel is sure to ignite season 16,” said President of the Alternative and Reality Group at NBC Entertainment, Paul Telegdy.

The father of 2 will join fellow judges Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton, as well as host Carson Daly.

“I’m thrilled to join the coaches of The Voice,” he said. “I’ve been a guest and mentor on the show multiple times and I’m so excited to discover talented singers and help them make the most of their gift. I hope the world is ready for #TeamJL.”

We’re giving you the green light, John!

One more season of The Voice has ended on Tuesday night, and we got ourselves a new winner. Chloe Kohanski, the 23-year-old from Nashville, took home the win which also meant that Blake Shelton’s team is victorious for the sixth time since the show debuted. In a big two-hour live finale, Chloe triumphed over 16-year-old Addison Agen.

The finale featured performances from Kelly Clarkson, Demi Lovato, Sia, Charlie Puth, N.E.R.D., and Chris Blue while Billy Idol, Bastille, Vince Gill, Jessie J, Norah Jones and Bebe Rexha appeared on stage with the finalists.

Chloe Kohanski taking the win didn’t come as a big surprise. The rocker did not only dominate The Voice iTunes Chart in almost every episode but was also seen as the early favorite by the judges.

“I think that you can be in the finale,” said Blake Shelton in October, after hearing Chloe sing Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain” at the blind audition.

Chloe Kohanski, however, was close to being out of the show during the “knockout” round. She was dropped by her coach Miley Cyrus, who wanted to win the show with a country contestant. But, thanks to the rule incorporated in the fifth season, other coaches had the chance to “snatch” the dropped contestant. Both Blake Shelton and Jennifer Hudson offered Chloe a spot on their team, and she ended up choosing Blake’s.

“I have been sitting in this seat for 13 seasons and I have never heard a more well-rounded voice than that right there,” Shelton told Kohanski at the time. “I’ll be damned if you’re not a star, Chloe.”

Chloe Kohanski, at the end, might well become a big star. She surely has a voice to do it. After the win, Chloe will join The Voice: Neon Dreams, which is a Las Vegas residency at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, set to open in spring.
