The third movie in the Kingsman franchise is on its way, but it seems Taron Egerton will sit this one out. The young actor just confirmed he won’t reprise his role as petty criminal turned cunning super-spy in the upcoming sequel.

This role opened many doors for Egerton and made him a part of Hollywood royalty, but it seems his services are no longer needed – for now. Despite his affection for the character that put him on the map, BAFTA nominee won’t be a part of the next movie.

“I don’t know how hot off the press this is, and I think I’m allowed to say it, but I’m not in the next Kingsman movie. That doesn’t mean I won’t be in Kingsman ever again. I was with Matthew [Vaughn] as little as a few days ago, we’re still very much in business together, but his next journey in that world doesn’t involve me,” explained Egerton.

Upcoming film Kingsman: The Great Game, will explore the history of the Secret Service organization in the 1900s, so it wouldn’t make sense for Egerton to be part of it. He described the idea for the third film as “incredibly exciting” and said it’s sad he won’t return for this new journey.
