This week marked the launch of Spotify Wrapped, and this music streaming service offered a closer look at our listening habits in 2023. The list of the most-streamed artists, albums, and songs of the past year has been unveiled, with Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny, and Miley Cyrus leading the way.
With 26.1 billion global streams this year, Taylor Swift emerged as Spotify’s most-streamed artist of the year, and they came up with a perfect way to mark the occasion.
“In the 48 hours leading up to this crowning moment, Spotify revealed 21 puzzle pieces with Taylor Swift-themed easter eggs in billboards from Sao Paulo to Jakarta. These clues culminated in a spotlight video that included nods to her universe – featuring everything from cats to her infamous red lips,” reads Spotify’s press release.
Bad Bunny made history this year with his album Un Verano Sin Ti. Despite being released back in spring 2022, the Puerto Rican’s chart-topping record managed to become the most-streamed album in the world for the second year in a row, with 4.5 billion global streams.
As for the list of the most-streamed songs of the year, Miley Cyrus generated 1.6 billion streams with her smash hit “Flowers”, defeating tough competition in SZA’s “Kill Bill” and Harry Styles’ “As It Was”.
