Taylor Swift’s fans are patiently waiting for the singer to surprise us with a new album or re-recording, but they’ll settle for a new song every now and then in the meantime. One of such songs is her newly released track “Carolina” from the upcoming film Where the Crawdads Sing.

After being featured in the trailer for this mystery drama, Swift decided to promote the film’s upcoming release by sharing the full song with the world.

“As soon as I heard there was a film in the works… I knew I wanted to be a part of it from the musical side. I wrote the song ‘Carolina’ alone and asked my friend Aaron Dessner to produce it. I wanted to create something haunting and ethereal to match this mesmerizing story,” said Swift on social media.

Where the Crawdads Sing is based on Delia Owens’s bestselling novel of the same name and it will hit the theatres on July 15. It centers on a young woman Kya (Daisy Edgar-Jones) who was abandoned in the marshes of the deep South as a child, whose life turns upside down after she becomes a suspect in the murder of a man she was once involved with.
