The pop icon keeps rolling out new materials in the lead to her forthcoming seventh album Lover

“The Archer” is the album’s anticipated fifth track of the album.

“There’s a lot that’s covered, emotionally,” Swift said about the song. “And I really wanted to give you track 5 before the album came out. Track 5 is kind of a tradition that really started with you guys because I didn’t realize I was doing this, because as I was making albums, I don’t know why, but instinctively, I was putting a very emotional, honest track as track 5.”

“It’s not the next single, it’s just a song I love on the album. I know that can be confusing with the songs that come out. I haven’t made a video for it or anything. It’s just a glimpse into another side of the album I wanted to show you,” she added.

Swift also revealed that a deluxe edition of Lover will feature 120 pages from Swift’s personal diaries, which she’s kept since she was 13, as well as an empty journal for fans to use, the CD, art, and the CD’s booklet.

“The Archer” follows the pop icon’s first two releases off the album — “Me!” and “You Need to Calm Down.”
