Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour is yet to hit the theaters, but it’s already one of the most profitable concert films of all time. This highly-anticipated project made history after earning $100 million in global pre-sales alone, about a week before hitting the theatres.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour became a true sensation after the singer announced it back in late August. She promised a concert film that chronicles “the most meaningful, electric experience of [her] life so far” and revealed this project would get a global release about a month after the initial announcement.

Swift opted for a pretty unconventional move when bringing this concert film to the big screen, and went directly to AMC Theatres, bypassing major studios and streamers. She filmed it during three shows at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California in August and announced its release later that month.

This concert film earned a record $37 million on its first day of pre-sales in the United States, and it’s still breaking records. It grossed $100 million from pre-sales alone, becoming the second highest-earning film in history behind Michael Jackson’s This Is It.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour will have its world premiere on October 11, before being released in theaters worldwide on October 13.
