“Texas Chainsaw Massacre” Reboot in the Works

The cult classic slasher film is getting a reboot. 

Variety was first to report that the horror pic Texas Chainsaw Massacre is coming back. The film will be rebooted by Irish filmmakers and Dig directors Ryan and Andy Tohill. Screenwriter Chris Thomas Devlin is on board as the scribe. 

Fede Alvarez and Rodolfo Sayagues will produce through their overall deal with Legendary.

While plot details are being kept under lock and key, Alvarez said in a statement that “The Tohill’s vision is exactly what the fans want. It’s violent, exciting and so depraved that it will stay with you forever.”

The original horror pic about a group of friends who fall prey to a family of cannibals premiered was helmed by Tobe Hooper and premiered in theaters in 1974.
