“The 100” Prequel Series is Still a Possibility

The 100 is one of the CW’s most beloved shows. After 7 seasons, the series is now coming to an end with a fitting total of 100 episodes. Now, the fans will have to say goodbye to the post-apocalyptic world they have followed for years. Or will they?

One episode in the final season actually serves as a backdoor pilot for a potential prequel series. It is set 97 years before the events of The 100 and focuses on the children of the villainous Bill Cadogan. However, there is no official confirmation such a prequel will be made.

But hope is still alive. Jason Rothenberg the creator of The 100 told CBR recently that the idea is very much alive. “I wish I could say yes to that. We’re in the same kind of holding pattern, waiting for the powers that be to decide. If there’s any good news, it’s just that they’re still talking about it. To me, that’s good news. We have a pulse.”

Another series that finds itself in a similar situation is Green Arrow and the Canaries. As in The 100, an episode in Arrow’s final season served as a possible pilot for a spinoff, and as is the case with The 100, it is still in the executive’s limbo. We’ll have to just wait and see.
