The 1975 teased their next album, Notes on a Conditional Form, with several pretty great singles, and they just gave us another one. The music video for their new song “The Birthday Party” is here, and it’s truly a wild ride.

The 3D animated video takes place in a strange world of Mindshower, a place where people can take a break from technology.

The 1975 came up with this concept in collaboration with director Ben Ditto and animator Jon Emmony. “Matty [Healy] and I have a shared fascination with the underbelly of internet culture and how that impacts modern life, and we looked to address this from several directions and created an engaging and beautiful piece of filmmaking to contain these messages and their performance in a revolutionary way,” said Ditto in a statement.

During an interview with Zane Lowe, Healy described this song and video as “one of the things [he’s] most proud of”. It serves as the fourth single from Notes on a Conditional Form, after previously released tracks “People”, “Frail State of Mind”, and “Me & You Together Song”.
