“The Blacklist” Creator Hints on What to Expect in Season 6

James Spader in "The Blacklist"

The Blacklist TV show ended in a shocking twist in season 5. The bones Raymond Reddington (James Spader) had been looking for all along belonged to Agent Elizabeth Keen’s (Megan Boone) real father.

Raymond is an impostor and not Agent Keen’s biological father. The real Raymond Reddington was a naval officer who died over 30 years ago. But the show’s creator Jon Bokenkamp recently explained, the impostor Red Reddington is much more interesting than the original person.

In season 6, scheduled to debut this Friday (January 4) the show will continue to show that Reddington is still the conniving character fans have lived to know.

“That’s something that I hope the audience understands,” creator Jon Bokenkamp said. “This impostor, this person who has taken the identity of Reddington, has probably lived as Reddington longer than Reddington ever di and was far more interesting, and far more dangerous, and far funnier, and is the guy we want to watch.”

The reveal will obviously have an effect on Liz, who had begun to believe she was slowly turning like his ‘father’ Reddington. With the new knowledge Red isn’t her father, it will be interesting to find out what more she learns about him.

“She knows that Reddington is an impostor, and he isn’t aware of that. And so we now get to have this new dynamic where Liz is working the case presenting to Reddington as if she is his daughter, and the fact she knows far more than she’s letting on,” Jon said.
