The Boys aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.

The third season of The Boys is currently airing on Amazon Prime after having premiered on June 3. Even though the season is expected to run for another month, the show has already been picked up for a fourth.

“Speaking for the cast and crew, we’re so grateful to Sony, Amazon, and most of all the fans for embracing the show and allowing us to make more,” said showrunner Eric Kripke following the announcement. “We’re thrilled to continue Butcher and the Boys’ fight against Homelander and the Seven, as well as comment on the insane world we’re living in. Also, this is the first time in history that exploding genitalia has led to further success.”

In contrast to most streaming shows, episodes of The Boys have dropped on a weekly basis. Season 2 debuted with 891 million minutes of viewing time in 2020, with the global audience over the first 3 days of season 3 increasing by 17%.

“The Boys continues to push boundaries in storytelling while also being relentlessly entertaining and threading the needle on social satire that feels all too real. This stylized world of the series has incredible global reach and the viewership for opening weekend is proof of that,” stated Vernon Sanders who is the head of global television at Amazon Studios.
