The Boys is one of Amazon’s biggest hits to date, and it was just a matter of time before they started expanding this universe. Its spinoff Gen V knocked it out of the park after premiering on Amazon Prime Video last month, and the streamer was quick to renew it for its second season.
Gen V is set at Godolkin University, the prestigious superhero college, where students must take part in deadly battle royal challenges to prove their worth. The show’s ensemble cast includes Jaz Sinclair, Chance Perdomo, Lizze Broadway, Shelley Conn, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sean Patrick Thomas, and Marco Pigossi.
Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, said it was clear that Gen V would push the boundaries from their first conversation with its showrunners and executive producers. He praised their unapologetic approach, which helped Gen V become Prime Video’s “most acquisitive” new original series of 2023.
“Expanding the universe of The Boys with a series as bold as Gen V has been an incredible journey for us and our wonderful partners at Sony… We’re excited that our incredible cast and crew are going to continue telling brave and bold stories from Gen V to our customers,” said Sanders in a statement.
