“The Crown” Season 3 Will Debut in 2019

Olivia Colman in "The Crown"

Season 3 of The Crown will make its return in the second half of 2019.

In the tradition of the first two seasons of Netflix’s royal drama, which debuted in November 2016 and December 2017, the third season will debut in the winter months of this year.

Deadline reports that in a letter from Netflix to investors it was revealed that The Crown will return in the second half of 2019. Netflix, however, has yet to officially confirm the series’ return.

The awfully long wait for the third season means that by the time it finally makes its return, fans would have waited more than 18 months after the second season was available to stream.

The long wait is also attributed to the season’s major recasting. Claire Foy was replaced by Olivia Colman (The Favourite). Matt Smith, Vanessa Kirby, and Matthew Goode are also out with Tobias Menzies, Helena Bonham Carter and Ben Daniels in to play Prince Phillip, Princess Margaret and Lord Snowden, respectively.
