“The Crown” Season 4 Sets Premiere Date, Gives First Look at Diana

Tobias Menzies and Olivia Colman in "The Crown"

Netflix’s The Crown Season 4 will be premiering on November 15 and the streaming giant released a teaser trailer giving us a first look at Emma Corrin’s Princess Diana.

“Something as important as the monarchy simply cannot be allowed to fail,” says Olivia Colman’s Queen Elizabeth in the trailer, which implies that with Diana, the monarchy is in danger of that happening.

The teaser also gives a brief glimpse at Gillian Anderson’s Margaret Thatcher, who will be joining the cast this season. We see the corners of her mouth in a mirror, the back of her head inside the House of Commons, and a flash of her addressing the press.

The Crown finished shooting Season 4 in mid-March, right before the U.K. went into lockdown. This season will cover the Margaret Thatcher era and Prince Charle’s and Princess Diana’s marriage. It will be Colman’s last season as Queen.

Over the past few weeks, Jonathan Pryce was announced as Prince Philip and Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana in Seasons 5 and 6 of The Crown. Seasons 5 and 6 will take the royal family into the early 2000s and they will be the final seasons. Imelda Staunton will play Queen Elizabeth and Lesley Manville will play Princess Margaret.
