The final season of The Crown is coming to Netflix this month, and filming it was quite a harrowing experience for its star Elizabeth Debicki. The Emmy-nominated actress reflected on filming Princess Diana’s final scenes in a recent interview and described the experience as “completely unbearable.”

Season 6 of The Crown will chronicle Princess Diana’s death, but her car crash in Paris will play out off-screen. The audience will still get to see the heavy media attention Diana and her partner Dodi Fayed had to deal with, and these scenes were among the most difficult to film for Debicki.

The Emmy-nominated actress discussed the paparazzi scene in a recent interview with Netflix and said described the task of filming them as “heavy and very manic and incredibly invasive.”

“Trying to get from one place to another and to have this swarm around you, you feel very trapped… It’s really horrendous to have that many people yelling at you and wanting something. So we let it happen because it feels like a very important part of the story to tell” she explained.

In addition to Debicki, the final season of The Crown will also star Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth, Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret, Dominic West as Prince Charles, and Khalid Abdalla as Dodi Fayed. Part 1, consisting of four episodes, will premiere on Netflix on November 16, while Part 2 will arrive on December 14.
