It’s official — The Devil Wears Prada is becoming a musical!

The hit 2006 feature, based on the 2003 film is heading to the musical stage. The musical adaptation boasts an impressive creative team with Tony winner Anna D. Shapiro directing from a book by Paul Rudnick. The show will feature songs by the iconic Sir Elton John and lyrics from singer-songwriter Shaina Taub.

“Re-imagining The Devil Wears Prada for the musical theater is super-exciting,” John previously said in a statement. “I’m a huge fan of both the book and the feature film, and a huge aficionado of the fashion world. I can’t wait to sink my musical teeth into this hunk of popular culture.”

The news was confirmed by Shapiro Tuesday who added that it was “important” that the show premieres in Chicago.

The Devil Wears Prada is set to premiere at the James M. Nederlander Theatre in Chicago on July 14 and run until August 17, 2020.
