It seems there is too much Upside Down to all fit into one series…

Stranger Things is gearing up for its final stretch, but the creators of the Netflix hit have revealed that at least one spin-off is in the works. Plans, so far, are so secretive that not even the streaming service knows what the new series will be about!

What Matt and Ross Duffer have disclosed, however, is that it will be “1000% different” from the original.

“I’ve read these rumors that there’s gonna be an Eleven spinoff, that there’s gonna be a Steve and Dustin spinoff or that it’s another number,” said the brothers. “That’s not interesting to me because we’ve done all that. We’ve spent I don’t know how many hours exploring all of that. So it’s very different.”

The creators are remaining tight-lipped, though apparently Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike, managed to figure out their idea.

“We think everyone — including Netflix — will be surprised when they hear the concept because it’s very, very different. But somehow Finn Wolfhard — who is one crazy smart kid — correctly guessed what it was going to be about. But aside from Finn, no one else knows!”

On the chance that the spin-off will revolve around Hopper before his time as the Hawkins Chief of Police, David Harbour has picked Euphoria actor, Jacob Elordi, to play his character’s younger self.

“He could pull off being as handsome as I was at 20,” Harbour remarked. “At this point, I think Hopper is a character that can exist independent of me. If they wanna go back in time, forward in time… I’d love to see another actor play Hopper, and see what they can bring to it…”

With Season 4 of Stranger Things having just been released and Season 5 yet to be filmed, there’s plenty of time for us to speculate as to what the Duffers have up their sleeves.
