Indie rockers The Fiery Furnaces will be back on the road this fall. The duo, consisting of siblings Eleanor and Matthew Friedberger, just announced dates for their first live shows since 2011.

The Fiery Furnaces was supposed to make a comeback at the Pitchfork Music Festival in 2020 but never got a chance to do so after the event was canceled. They will, however, make an appearance on this year’s edition of the festival, playing on the first day (September 10th)

After playing the Pitchfork Music Festival, the band will make their way to Brooklyn, New York City, playing at Brooklyn Steel on November 13th. The show will be followed by gigs at Chicago’s Thalia Hall on November 15th and LA’s El Rey Theater on November 17th. Comedian Fred Armisen is set to make a special appearance on all three of these shows.

“We’re very excited to be playing again, to get a chance to do new things with old stuff, or old things with new people,” said the Friedberger siblings in a statement. “We’re very happy to have Fred opening the shows. We’ll be six on stage, joined by Brian Betancourt, Noah Hecht, Emily Lee, and Cameron Wisch.”

Formed in 2000, The Fiery Furnaces released nine albums. Most of their studio efforts were ambitious and complex projects that often divided the critics. In 2011, the group decided to go on hiatus and focus on solo projects.

The band marked their return by releasing a new single “Down at the So and So on Somewhere” earlier this summer.
