Van Helsing is one of Syfy network’s longest-running shows of the decade but the network is ready to say goodbye to this dark fantasy series. The vampire-themed drama has been renewed for its fifth season, which is also going to be its last.

Chad Oakes, executive producer and co-chairman of Nomadic Pictures, the production company behind this series, thanked everyone involved in the making Van Helsing after its cancelation became official. “We are thrilled to be able to bring the amazing Van Helsing saga to a close. This could not have been done without the support of our incredible cast, crew, Syfy, Netflix, and SuperEcran,” he said in a statement.

Van Helsing premiered on Syfy in 2016 and followed the adventure of Vanessa Helsing (Kelly Overton), a distant relative of famous vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing, who finds out that vampires have taken over the world after being resurrected.

Showrunner Jonathan Lloyd Walker promised they’ll give us an answer to the question “Will the light defeat the darkness?” in the final season, which will see the Van Helsing clan confronting Dracula for one last time.
