The Joker has always been one of the most fascinating comic book villains, and fans couldn’t wait to dive into his origin story.
Judging by the tone of the teaser, the upcoming Joker movie will be pretty dark and unsettling, like the character at its center. Joaquin Phoenix portrays the titular villain, and these two-odd minutes made it clear he’ll be able to do justice to the character.
The Oscar-nominated actor spent a lot of time deciding whether or not he should take this role, but director Todd Phillips eventually managed to sway him into the right direction.
“I think he’s very impressive and he seems to have a very interesting understanding of this world and what he’s trying to say. And so there is something very appealing about that and working with him on this particular project,” explained Phoenix.
First teaser proves these two are a match made in heaven, since it perfectly captures Joker’s descent into madness in the way no other movie has ever done before. We can’t wait to explore his entire origin story when this film hits the theaters on October 4.
