Twenty-five years have passed since we last saw Bugs Bunny and the Toons Squad slam dunking and we finally got the first official trailer for Space Jam: A New Legacy, the long-awaited sequel to the 1996 basketball classic that featured NBA players with the Looney Tunes.

For the sequel, LeBron James is replacing Michael Jordan, playing a heightened version of himself, who struggles to connect with his tech-savvy son Dom (Ceyair J. Wright). While trying to steal some of the basketball player’s social media followers, a CGI humanoid named Al G Rhythm (Don Cheadle) sucks the duo into a virtual reality called the “Warner 3000 entertainment Server-verse”. In order for Dom to escape the Server-verse, James must defeat the Goon Squad. To take on the challenge, James reunites the Toon Squad, which includes Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Lola Bunny, Marvin the Martian, Porky Pig, Roadrunner, and the rest of the Looney Tunes.

This film will be the first theatrically released one to feature the Looney Tunes characters since 2003’s Looney Tunes: Back in Action.

The cast includes Zendaya, Khris Davis, Sonequa Martin-Green, and Cedric Joe. Many NBA and WNBA players will be making cameo appearances, including Anthony Davis, Damian Lillard, Klay Thompson, Diana Taurasi, and Nneka Ogwumike.

Space Jam: A New Legacy is set to be released on HBO Max and in theatres on July 16. Check out the trailer below.
