After premiering at Cannes earlier this year to rave reviews, the first trailer for the highly-anticipated Portrait of a Lady on Fire is finally here.
The film helmed by Céline Sciamma starring Adèle Haenel and Noémie Merlant is a seduction-filled love story.
Per the official description of the film: “In the 18th century France a young painter, Marianne (Merlant), is commissioned to do the wedding portrait of Héloïse (Haenel) without her knowing. Therefore, Marianne must observe her model by day to paint her portrait at night. Day by day, the two women become closer as they share Héloïse’s last moments of freedom before the impending wedding.”
The film won the Queer Palm prize and was awarded Best Screenplay at the Cannes Film Festival.
Portrait of a Lady on Fire is set to hit selected theaters December 6.
