Eight actors are making their way to Westeros.

Game of Thrones is ending this year (sob!), but a Game of Thrones prequel is nigh (yay!)

Rumoured to be titled A Long Night, the series is based on an idea from Kingsman: The Secret Service writer, Jane Goldman, and will be set thousands of years before the conflicts of the Lannisters and Targareyans.

The HBO show will chronicle the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour and star Gypsy actress Naomi Watts as a wealthy socialite with a secret.

She will be joined by Josh Whitehouse of Poldark, as well as 8 others whose names have just been announced.

They include Naomi Ackie (Star Wars: Episode IX), Denise Gough (Colette), Jamie Campbell Bower (The Twilight Saga), Sheila Atim (Harlots), Ivanno Jeremiah (Humans), Georgie Henley (The Chronicles of Narnia), Alex Sharp (To the Bone), and Toby Regbo (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindewald).

Campbell Bower shared his excitement via Twitter, calling it a “real pinch me moment”:

The pilot is set to be directed by SJ Clarkson who worked on Marvel’s Jessica Jones.

No date has been revealed for the upcoming series (which still has to be approved past the pilot), but it is likely to only be a year after Game of Thrones ends.
