The Grand Tour star presenter Richard Hammond is teaming up with Discovery for a new car show. The series will follow Hammond as he sets up a classic cars restoration workshop and tries to build his business.

Hammond confirmed the news via social media, revealing that the series, currently titled Richard Hammond’s Workshop, will arrive later this year.

According to the show’s synopsis, Hammond and his team won’t be just restoring classics but will also work on cars from Hammond’s impressive car and bikes collection.

Hammond said in a statement that the project would allow him to see whether he inherited some skills from his grandfather. The latter was an “automotive craftsman” and worked for iconic British car manufacturer Jensen Motors.

“I’ve spent 25 years critiquing other people’s cars, and now I’m putting my own work out there,” he added. “So this is a real business, a real project, and I really hope people enjoy watching the highs and inevitable lows throughout the series!”

Richard Hammond is a well-familiar name in the automotive world, hosting the legendary car show Top Gear with Jeremy Clarkson and James May. The trio left Top Gear in 2015 and has since presented Amazon’s acclaimed motoring series The Grand Tour.

Hammond’s most recent collaboration with Discovery was the 2020’s constructing series Richard Hammond’s Big.
