Suzanne Collins became a best-selling author thanks to the enormous success of The Hunger Games franchise, and she’s getting ready to take us back to Panem.

A prequel of her beloved dystopian novels is coming our way next year, and Lionsgate is in talks for its movie adaptation.

The original franchise took place in a post-apocalyptic world where young people must fight each other on live TV until only one is left alive. Its prequel will take us back 64 years into the past, and it will center on the dark days of Panem when the country struggled to get back on its feet.

Collins’ new book will hit the shelves on May 19th, 2020 and Lionsgate already expressed interest to bring it to the big screen. This studio adapted the previous three novels in the franchise, and their chairman Joe Drake is looking forward to doing the same with their prequel.

“As the proud home of the Hunger Games movies, we can hardly wait for Suzanne’s next book to be published. We’ve been communicating with her during the writing process and we look forward to continuing to work closely with her on the movie,” Drake said in a statement.
