“The Irishman” Gets Centerpiece Screening at Rome Film Festival

The Irishman will have its world premiere at the upcoming New York Film Festival later this month, but that’s not the only high-profile event where this highly-anticipated movie will be screened. Martin Scorsese’s latest just scored a centerpiece screening at the upcoming Rome Film Festival.

he famed director’s upcoming gangster flick tells the story of Frank Sheeran, a mob hitman who reflects on his life and involvement with a notorious crime family. It will star several veterans of this genre, including Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Joe Pesci.

The Irishman will screen in the Italian capital on October 21st, and the Head of Rome Film Festival, Antonio Monda, said it’s a great honor for everyone involved with this event to have such an important movie participate as the centerpiece at this festival.

“The Irishman is the most highly anticipated film of the year and boasts an exceptional cast: the decision to present it in Rome is yet another acknowledgment of how the Fest has grown over the years,” said Monda in a statement.

This year’s edition of Rome Film Fest will take place between October 17th and 27th at the Auditorium Parco della Musica and other venues throughout the city.
