The Primetime Emmy Awards are still months away, but that’s not stopping the Television Academy from handing out shiny trophies. The 49th Annual Daytime Creative Arts & Lifestyle Emmy Awards took place on Saturday, and The Kelly Clarkson Show was the biggest winner of the night.
The Kelly Clarkson Show was nominated for a total of seven awards and walked away with five by the end of the night. It won trophies for outstanding art direction/set decoration/scenic design, outstanding multiple camera editing, outstanding lighting direction, outstanding technical team, camera work, video, and outstanding live sound mixing and sound editing.
It was also a big night for the Netflix documentary series Penguin Town, which collected three awards, and The Drew Barrymore Show and The Young and the Restless with two each. Netflix collected a total of nine awards, while ten went to syndicated shows.
The Creative Arts & Lifestyle Emmy Awards are just a stepping stone for the 49th Daytime Emmy Awards, taking place on June 24. Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner, co-anchors of Entertainment Tonight, were selected to host the ceremony, while soap operas The Young and the Restless, Days of Our Lives, and General Hospital are leading the list of nominees.
