Somebody told me… that The Killers have new music on the way.

It hasn’t been that long since the rock band released a studio album, but another is in the works. And we’re not complaining.

2021 saw the release of their seventh album, Pressure Machine, which reached ninth place on the US Billboard 200. Inspired by lead singer Brandon Flowers’ childhood in Utah, the album was heavily influenced by Bruce Springsteen. It also marked the return of guitarist Dave Keuning who was absent on the previous album, but saw bassist Mark Stoermer having to miss out due to difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Eleven months after Pressure Machine’s release, the “Mr. Brightside” rockers have confirmed that they are back in studio, working on their eighth album.

“A full record will probably be early next year,” Flowers said at the Mad Cool Festival in Madrid. The singer stated, however, that some singles will definitely drop before 2022 is out.

It is possible that one of them may be the track “Boy” which the group debuted at the festival.

The frontman revealed that the “optimistic” song was originally meant to feature on Pressure Machine. “It’s in the dust, it’s in the gutter, and it’s looking at the stars. There’s an optimism to it.”
