It’s been two months since the third season of The L Word: Generation Q ended its run, and it will serve as the show’s final chapter. Showtime canceled The L Word sequel after three seasons, but they’re plotting a potential reboot of the original series.

The L Word: Generation Q premiered on Showtime in 2019, as a spiritual successor to the iconic 2010s series The L Word. Just like the original series, it centered on a group of LGBTQ+ friends experiencing love, heartbreak, setbacks, and success in Silver Lake, Los Angeles.

The show’s cast features a mix of old and new cast members, including Jennifer Beals, Kate Moennig, Leisha Hailey, Arienne Mandi, Sepideh Moafi, Leo Sheng, Jacqueline Toboni, Rosanny Zayas, Jordan Hull, and Jamie Clayton.

The cancelation of The L Word: Generation Q doesn’t come as a shocker given the current state of things at Showtime. The network hasn’t renewed any of its shows since January when it was announced that the premium cable network will be integrated into Paramount+ later this year.

Despite the cancelation of this show, The L Word story could continue. Deadline reported that Showtime is eyeing a potential reboot of the original series involving its creator Ilene Chaiken under the working title The L Word: New York.
