If you’re a huge fan of historical dramas, The Last Kingdom is probably one of your favorite shows on Netflix. This British series isn’t done ruling our world, and it’s recently been renewed for its fifth season.

The Last Kingdom is based on Bernard Cornwell’s The Saxon Stories book series and follows the journey of a fictional protagonist Uhtred of Bebbanburg (Alexander Dreymon). He was born to a Saxon lord, before being captured and adopted by the Vikings, but decided to fight for his ancestral birthright later in life.

One of the executive producers, Nigel Marchant, said they’re really proud of this series, which continues to entertain audiences all over the world, and said they’re looking forward to the next season.

“We had such a tremendous response to the last season, so are thrilled to be bringing it back for season five on Netflix. With such a loyal fanbase, we’re excited to give viewers a chance to follow Uhtred on the next stage of his quest,” stated Marchant.
