The Primetime Emmy Awards are just one week away, and the Creative Arts Emmy Award served as a perfect interlude for this award show. The ceremony took place over the course of two nights this past weekend, and The Last of Us emerged as the biggest winner with eight trophies.
HBO’s post-apocalyptic video game adaptation came into the night with 19 nominations, and it lived up to the hype. This series walked away with a total of eight awards, including outstanding guest actor and actress in a drama series for the guest stars Nick Offerman and Storm Reid.
The Last of Us also collected multiple awards in technical categories, including outstanding main title design, outstanding prosthetic makeup, outstanding picture editing for a drama series, outstanding sound editing for a comedy or drama series (one hour), outstanding sound mixing for a comedy or drama series (one hour), and outstanding special visual effects in a season or a movie.
Sam Richardson (Ted Lasso) and Judith Light (Poker Face) won awards for outstanding guest actor and actress in a comedy series. It was also a big night for Keke Palmer, who made history as the first woman in 15 years to win the award for outstanding host for a game show for Password.
The 75th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards took place on January 6 and 7, and they’ll be followed by the Primetime Emmy Awards on January 15.
