“The Lion King” Remake Cast Announced

All the voices of The Lion King remake are now revealed.

Thanks to Beyoncé, now we found out the rest of The Lion King remake cast. The singer has posted a picture on her official Facebook profile which contained the majority of the cast for Disney’s upcoming CGI live-action movie. Although it was revealed previously that Donald Glover will lend his voice to Simba and that James Earl Jones will reprise his role as Mufasa, we only found out on Tuesday that Beyoncé will join as Nala. It was revealed that Chiwetel Ejiofor will be the voice of Scar and join already high-prolific cast that includes Seth Rogen, John Oliver, and Keegan-Michael Key. Check out the Beyoncé’s post below.

Directed by Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff, The Lion King was released in 1994, and instantly became a fan favorite and one of Disney’s most successful movies of all time. At one point it was the second highest-grossing film of all time and became the highest earner on the box office in 1994. The movie also currently stands the highest-grossing animated film of all time that used traditional animation. The Lion King received numerous awards including the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and two Academy Awards for Best Original Score and Best Original Song. Disney built on the success of the original by releasing two direct-to-video sequels.

In 2016 it was announced by Disney that the studio is moving forward with The Lion King that will use all the advantages of the modern CGI technology. Jon Favreau was selected as a director while Jeff Nathanson was entrusted with the task of writing a screenplay. Also, the original composer Hans Zimmer is set to return and reprise his role.

The production of the remake began in the summer of 2017, with the expected release date being set for July 19, 2019.
