Deadline reports that British actor Maxim Baldry has signed on to a lead role in Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings TV series.

Although Baldry has been linked to the series since the fall, until now, he didn’t have a deal for the show and he wasn’t part of the cast announcement in January.

In the announcement, Amazon Co-head of TV Vernon Sanders said, “We still have a few key roles to cast.”

Baldry will join Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Nazanin Boniadi, Tom Budge, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers, and Daniel Weyman.

The Lord of the Rings series hasn’t even started production for Season 1 and it’s already been renewed for a second season.

Baldy has just finished playing Viktor in the BBC-HBO limited series Years and Years. He was also in the shows Doctor Who and Strike Back as well as the recent feature film from Universal, Last Christmas.
