Disney+ has given us one of its most popular shows with The Mandalorian, and they’re finally bringing this story to the big screen. The Mandalorian & Grogu will be the heroes of the next Star Wars movie, directed and produced by Jon Favreau.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but this movie is set to continue the story of Pedro Pascal’s lone Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin. He goes on a run and does everything in his power to protect the Force-sensitive infant Grogu (also known by the nickname “Baby Yoda”) from the Imperial forces after initially being hired to hunt him down.

Jon Favreau, who created The Mandalorian for Disney+, will return as director and producer of its feature film adaptation.

“I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created. The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting,” said Favreau in a statement.

Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, echoed his words and praised Favreau and Dave Filoni for ushering in a new era of Star Wars with these two beloved characters, whose story is a perfect fit for the big screen.

The Mandalorian premiered on Disney+ in 2019 and ran for three seasons, and the streaming giant is yet to officially announce its Season 4 renewal.
