July 31st will see The Muppets returning to television with their new show Muppets Now. The show will stream on Disney+ and will be the first-ever unscripted muppets show. In a teaser released by Disney, the crew is in high gears working towards the deadline.

The teaser shows a video conference held by The Muppets cast members such as Kermit, Miss Piggy, Swedish Chef, Pepé, Rowfl, Gonzo, Dr. Teeth, and Walter. Kermit breaks the news about the show being green-lighted and introduces a new character—Joe, a weasel who works in legal. They then discuss ideas for the show and venue.

The show will see the cast members doing a variety of improv scenes and other unscripted materials. Each episode (or “muppisode”) will focus on a different topic ranging from lifestyle to game shows, interviews, cooking, and science. The show will also feature guest stars like Aubrey Plaza, Seth Rogan, RuPaul, and others. The first season will have 6 episodes dropped weekly on the streaming service. It will be directed by Kirk Thatcher, former director of 2002’s It’s a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie. He also co-wrote Muppets Treasure Island and The Muppets’ Wizard of Oz.
