The New James Bond Film Gets a Title

Daniel Craig as Bond in "Skyfall"

The 25th film in the James Bond franchise finally gets a name.

In a short clip released by EON Productions, Metro Goldwyn Mayer Studios (MGM), and Universal Pictures International the new title is revealed to be: No Time to Die.

This title was picked after the titles Eclipse, A Reason to Die and Shatterhand were dropped. It garnered a slew of speculation about its meaning, with some claiming it means the death of bond. While it is the last Bond film of actor Daniel Craig, it seems unlikely that the studios are about to kill off one of the long-lasting characters in cinema’s history. It is by no means the first time the world “die” appears in a Bond film title – Die Another Day, Live and Let Die and Tomorrow Never Dies come to mind.

The movie, Directed and co-written by Cary Fukunaga, shows bond getting back from retirement in Jamaica to help his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA to rescue a kidnapped scientist – a mission that turns out to be more dangerous than expected as the mysterious villain is armed with deadly technology.

The movie stars Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Rory Kinnear, Léa Seydoux, Ben Whishaw, Jeffrey Wright, Ana de Armas, Dali Benssalah, David Dencik, Lashana Lynch, Billy Magnussen, and Rami Malek.

No Time to Die will be released on April 8, 2020.
