“The New Mutants” Gets a PG-13 Rating

The history of the X-Men movie franchise in recent years is a bit complicated and the upcoming recent addition, The New Mutants, has suffered because of it. The movie was long delayed by the Fox-Disney merger, but now the wait is almost over as it will arrive next month.

But some of the fans may still be a little bit disappointed. Some of the last X-Men projects under Fox did not shy away from an R rating, and as movies like Logan and Deadpool got positive reviews and were successful at the box offices, many hoped that The New Mutants will also aim to this rating, especially when, according to the trailers, it utilizes some horror elements.

Now, the MPAA has granted the movie a PG-13 rating due to “Violent content, some disturbing/bloody images, some strong language, thematic elements, and suggestive material…all involving people that were teens when this was filmed, but are now adults.”

So we will have to wait and see what the Josh Boone directed movie will bring to the table as it follows a group of young mutants trying to break out of a special hospital they are being held in.
