The “Game of Thrones” Finale – the Most-Watched HBO Show of All Time

Game of Thrones was famous for its characters lying and manipulating, but one thing which tells the truth is numbers.

And those numbers were high for the very last episode of the fantasy show.

It was always expected that a large number of people would tune in to see how the multiple award-winning show came to a conclusion after eight years, but even HBO could not have anticipated how many.

19.3 million people watched the final installment in the series about dragons, zombies, and the quest for power. The figure has broken a record for the biggest single telecast in HBO’s history.

It seems as if every episode in the final series held the record at one point. The premiere drew in 17.4 million viewers, with the penultimate episode obtaining 18.4 million watchers.

It seems fitting that the series finale — despite receiving a less-than-ideal critical approval rating of 59% — goes down in history as the most-watched episode of all time on the network.

And now our watch has ended.
