John Goodman, Danny McBride, and Adam Devine in "The Righteous Gemstones"

HBO gave us one of the most hilarious new comedies of the summer with their new show The Righteous Gemstones, and they’re ready for more. Only a couple of weeks after it first premiered, this hilarious sitcom has already been renewed for its second season.

Amy Gravitt, EVP of HBO Programming, announced the renewal in an official statement and praised the creative team behind this critically acclaimed project.

“Danny [McBride], Jody [Hill] and David [Gordon Green] are among our favorite collaborators and we’re thrilled that their take on a family comedy has been met with such enthusiasm. We cannot wait to share the next steps in the Gemstone family’s epic journey. Hallelujah!” said Gravitt.

According to its official logline, The Righteous Gemstones tells the story of the world-famous Gemstone televangelist family, which has a long tradition of deviance, greed, and charitable work.

The series was created by Danny McBride, who previously worked on another HBO comedy Eastbound & Down. He also plays the lead role and stars on this show alongside Adam DeVine, Dermot Mulroney, and John Goodman.
