The Rolling Stones have been around for many years and are still releasing new material yet the decades-long catalog of the band still contains never heard before songs. The band has now released such a song, “Scarlet”, which they recorded in October 1974 with Jimmy Page and Rick Grech. The track will also be included in the band’s album Goats Head Soup 2020, due to be released on September 4.

Talking about the song, Mick Jagger said, “I remember first jamming this with Jimmy and Keith in Ronnie’s basement studio. It was a great session.” Kith Richards added: ”My recollection is we walked in at the end of a Zeppelin session. They were just leaving, and we were booked in next and I believe that Jimmy decided to stay. We weren’t actually cutting it as a track, it was basically for a demo, a demonstration, you know, just to get the feel of it, but it came out well, with a line up like that, you know, we better use it.”

Goats Head Soup 2020 will feature 10 previously unreleased tracks and a full concert from 1973, the year of the album’s release.
