Fans are waiting breathlessly to Christmas for the conclusion of the third trilogy of the Star Wars Universe Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The movie is due to hit the theaters on December 20 but of course, the studio is releasing teasers of all sorts to keep the fire on.

This weekend’s D23 Expo was a great opportunity for this kind of tasty morsel and Disney did not let us down. The studio revealed the first official poster for the movie and the speculation about it came soon after.

The poster shows Ray fighting Kylo Ren on some space debris. The aesthetics are clearly following the theme of good vs evil and it seems for now that the good side is the winning side as Ray has a better position. It also noted that Kylo Ren is masked – as opposed to the last movie.

But the most exciting detail is in the background. The battle is overlooked by none other than Emperor Palpatine – the original villain from the original trilogy. Does it mean he plays a major part in this trilogy finale? We’ll have to wait and see.
