When The Weeknd performed “Save Your Tears” at the 2020 American Music Awards his entire face was bandaged. Well now, we get to see what was happening underneath.

In the video for “Save Your Tears”, the Weeknd is wearing a modified version of his red-jacketed outfit, which is bedazzled, and the bruises and bandages on his face are gone, but it appears as though he got plastic surgery. He’s performing in a fancy nightclub where people are dressed formally wearing glittery, full-face masks and his backing band is also wearing masks.

Throughout his performance, no one in the audience is reacting until he sees a beautiful, maskless girl in the audience and brings her on stage. They dance together happily and The Weeknd ends the song by shooting a confetti-filled gun, with the crowd applauding.

This video fits in with his bizarre and slightly disturbing After Hours visuals, which leaves us wondering how can he top the “Save Your Tears” video.

Will he continue the story when he performs at the Super Bowl Halftime Show on February 7?

For now, watch the “Save Your Tears” video below.
