The Weeknd’s songs from his latest studio album are still ruling the charts, but he seems to be ready for the next chapter of his musical journey. The Canadian superstar ushered a new area with his latest single “Take My Breath”.

The cinematic video for this track was directed by Cliqua, and it shows The Weeknd attending a Matrix-like rave. The video was supposed to play before the IMAX viewing of The Suicide Squad, but it was eventually pulled due to intense strobing effects that could be a little bit too much for some viewers.

“Take My Breath” is expected to be featured as the lead single on The Weeknd’s upcoming fifth studio album. Not much is known about it so far, but the singer previously stated he’s been working on new music in quarantine, and said that “After Hours are done and The Dawn is coming” during his acceptance speech at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards.

The Weeknd gave us several hit tracks throughout 2021 even before “Take My Breath” came out. The remix of “Save Your Tears” featuring Ariana Grande topped the charts back in April, and he also collaborated with Doja Cat on “You Right”, and Belly and Young Thug on “Better Believe”.
