The Weeknd posted a snippet on social media called “The Dawn Is Coming”, teasing new music.
The two-minute preview features a heavy electronic dance groove with his signature haunting melody playing throughout. The album seems brighter and like it could be the next chapter after the dark After Hours.
The song was teased with three days of hints—a wiped Instagram account, followed by a new post and a song snippet. New music from the artist has been expected for a while. In the months following After Hours, The Weeknd has been releasing long series of remixes, features, and new songs.
In the new post, the singer changed his look, wearing a black tie and long black leather jacket with a beard and fuller hair.
“If the last record is the after hours of the night,” he said, “then the dawn is coming,” he told Variety back in May when speaking about his next album.
