After conquering the music industry, The Weeknd is getting ready to take Hollywood by storm. The Canadian singer will make his feature film acting debut in Trey Edward Shults’ next project, also starring Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan.

Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye has been developing this untitled project with his producing partner Reza Fahim for the past few months. They approached Shults about directing it, and he immediately jumped on board, co-writing the script alongside Tesfaye and Fahim.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but that doesn’t make us any less excited about this film. Shults received critical acclaim for all of his previous movies, including Waves and It Comes At Night, and the cast is as impressive as it gets, with Oscar nominee Keoghan and Golden Globe-nominee Ortega agreeing to jump on board after the amazing year they both just had.

This film will mark The Weeknd’s feature acting debut, but it won’t be his first attempt at acting overall. We’ll soon get to see him show off his acting skills in HBO’s The Idol, which he co-created with Euphoria creator Sam Levinson. This series will premiere on HBO later this year, and it will also star Lily-Rose Depp, Suzanna Son, Troye Sivan, Moses Sumney, Jane Adams, Dan Levy, Jennie Kim, Eli Roth, and Hari Nef.
