It’s been over ten days since The Weeknd dropped his latest studio album After Hours, and the whole world had it on repeat ever since. That’s why it doesn’t come as a surprise that this record reached no. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, with more impressive sale numbers than any other album of 2020.

With 444,000 album-equivalent units in its first week, After Hours had the biggest first-week sales for an album in 2020. Experts are predicting it will stay at no. 1 next week as well, but we’re yet to see about that since it will be competing against Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia and 5 Seconds of Summer’s Calm.

To make the whole thing even more impressive, The Weeknd also made it to no. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with his song “Blinding Lights”. By doing so, he managed to de-crown Roddy Ricch who spent 11 consecutive weeks on the top of the chart with his viral hit “The Box”.

It’s also important to note that all the songs from After Hours made it to the Billboard Hot 100. The former no. 1 hit “Heartless” is currently sitting on the no. 4 spot, while “In Your Eyes” reached no. 16 after being released as the third single from this album.
