It’s been almost two years since The Weeknd dropped his smash hit “Blinding Lights” and we’re still waiting for it to leave the Billboard Hot 100. After 88 weeks spent on the chart, “Blinding Lights” earn the title of the longest-charting hit in the Billboard Hot 100 history.

“Blinding Lights” broke the record previously held by Imagine Dragons’ “Radioactive”. To make the whole thing even more impressive, “Blinding Lights” already broke the records for the most time spent in the top five, the most time spent in the top 10, and the most time spent in the top 40 before claiming its latest title.

The Canadian hitmaker thanked his fans for helping him reach this amazing milestone and promised he’ll be doing this for as long as he can breathe.

“Forever grateful to be able to experiment with sounds, try new things with my voice, and create music with the people I truly love and respect. For the last decade every song has been a journey and to be able to continue this journey has been nothing short of a blessing,” The Weeknd wrote on Instagram.

He also used the opportunity to tease his next album, being developed under the working title Dawn. The lead single “Take My Breath” came out earlier this month, and it debuted at no. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
