Fans lost it when Henry Cavill announced his departure from The Witcher, but his exit will be as epic as it gets. Showrunner Lauren Hissrich recently teased the show’s third season and said that Cavill will get the “heroic sendoff” that he deserves.

Hissrich recently set down with Entertainment Weekly to discuss the show’s upcoming third season. She detailed the journey of the main characters following the dramatic Season 2 finale, including Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia.

“It’s the most heroic sendoff that we could have, even though it wasn’t written to be that. Geralt has a new mission in mind when we come back to him in season 4. He’s a slightly different Geralt than we expected. Now, by the way, that’s an understatement,” said Hissrich.

Back in late October, Cavill announced his exit from the series in a lengthy statement and passed the mental to Liam Hemsworth. Cavill will bid his farewell to the iconic role in Season 3, while Hemsworth is set to take over when The Witcher returns for Season 4.

Many believed Cavill left the show to return as Superman, but he recently parted ways with this character amid the ongoing DCU shakeup. Shortly after confirming he won’t return as Superman, he landed the lead role in Amazon’s Warhammer series.
