NBC’s critically acclaimed drama This Is Us will end after season six. According to multiple reports, the news will be officially confirmed by the network in the upcoming days.

This Is Us tells the intriguing story of the Pearson family and follows the lives of siblings Kevin, Kate, and Randall, as well as their parents Jack and Rebecca. The series takes place over different time periods, while the series often uses flashbacks and flashforwards to explore different storylines.

Season five is currently being aired, with the season finale being set for May 25th. The sixth and final season is expected to arrive in late 2021 with 18 new episodes.

The news about the end of This Is Us doesn’t come as a surprise since creator Dan Fogelman previously said that he intends to wrap up the full story in six seasons. With the series being a serious hit in terms of ratings for NBC, the network was optimistic about changing his mind but obviously failed to do so.

Fogelman initially conceived This Is Us as a movie before converting the script into a television series. The first season debuted in late 2016, and the drama immediately became one of the most talked-about shows on television. During its run, the series received praise from the critics and went on to pick up a number of accolades, including a Primetime Emmy Award.

The cast of the series includes Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Sterling K. Brown, Chrissy Metz, and Justin Hartley.
