Netflix martial arts show Cobra Kai will bring back another major The Karate Kid character for its upcoming season four. The show’s creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg confirmed in a press release that The Karate Kid III villain Terry Silver would be included in the story, with Thomas Ian Griffith reprising his role from the original film.

Silver was referenced on several occasions in Cobra Kai, and his possible appearance was hinted throughout the show’s first three seasons. According to Heald, Jon, and Schlossberg, this was intentional as they intended to bring back the character all along.

“Since the beginning of the series, we’ve been carefully orchestrating the right moment to unleash Cobra Kai dojo co-founder Terry Silver back into the universe. That moment is now,” they said in a statement.

Netflix also confirmed the news by releasing a teaser trailer featuring Thomas Ian Griffith as Silver.

Terry Silver was introduced in The Karate Kid III as a karate expert, wealthy businessman, and war veteran. Silver is the one who created Cobra Kai dojo and then gave its control to his friend John Kreese as a gift. Following his downfall in the first two movies, Kreese turns to Silver to help him get revenge on Daniel and Mr. Miyagi.

Silver can be seen in season three of Cobra Kai, appearing during flashbacks where he is played by Nick Marini. He is also on the other side of Kreese’s phone call in the last episode, but his face isn’t shown.

Season four of Cobra Kai has wrapped up filming in April. The new episodes will come to Netflix at some point in 2021.
